We support communities in reducing waste and strengthening local resilience by developing lending libraries and shared infrastructure.

Shared Infrastructure for

Stronger Communities

What we do.

At SCIS, we aim to support the design, funding, and launch of local shared infrastructure—like tool lending libraries, makerspaces, and Thingeries. These spaces help communities share resources, reduce material waste, and foster more connected, sustainable neighborhoods.

We aim to collaborate with community groups, housing cooperatives, and municipalities—particularly in underserved areas—to bring these ideas to life. And we seek to partner with funders who share our commitment to long-term environmental and social impact.

Who we work with.

We work with two core groups: community leaders who want to bring shared infrastructure to their neighborhoods, and funders who are ready to support scalable, circular solutions. Whether you’re looking to host a local lending library or invest in community resilience, SCIS is here to help you make it happen.

Want to Host Shared Infrastructure?

Are you part of a community group, housing co-op, or municipality interested in starting a local tool or equipment lending library? SCIS is currently building the tools, partnerships, and funding needed to help launch more of these shared infrastructure projects.

Right now, we’re focused on connecting with communities who are interested in hosting a project and gathering the support needed to bring these ideas to life. If you're curious about what it would take to start something in your neighborhood, we’d love to hear from you.

Want to Fund Circular Innovation?

Invest in a future where communities share more and waste less. SCIS works with foundations, governments, and private-sector partners to fund high-impact infrastructure projects in underserved neighborhoods.

Your support enables us to bring Thingeries and other shared resources to life—reducing consumption, fostering equity, and building resilience in the communities that need it most. We offer clear metrics, real-world impact stories, and a scalable model for circular innovation.
